First day of Spring Break
Kiddo has off for the next two weeks. For me, this doesn’t mean much, aside from not having to review/correct homework and sign off on the daily stuff for class.
I work, so that pretty much means he still has to get up and get ready the same as every day. Maybe one of these days I can take a week off with him, but until then it’s off to work I go.
The other thing it means is that I have to plan and pack lunches. I did myself a huge favor last night by making both lunches and setting them in the ‘fridge. I never do that because I figure, oh it only takes a few minutes. But I knew that even though we changed the time on Saturday, it wouldn’t hit me until Monday morning when the alarm went off. I was right about that.
Anyway, I packed his lunch for him: chicken and avocado sandwich on whole wheat, cheez-it 100-calorie pack, grapes, shark-bites fruit snacks and a water.
I’m willing to bet the grapes and the water come back home tonight. He’s never been a picky eater and he will eat salad and vegetables without any fuss at all. In fact he’s more likely to eat the vegetables and leave the chicken on his dinner plate.
I think it’s just a school thing. Peer pressure, maybe? That’s why he eats the lunches at the school - sure I could pack a lunch for him but he wants to eat from the cafeteria. blech. I guess it’s just not “cool” to eat fruits and veggies.
