I made it through surgery with no major complications.  I had my girlfriend take me there, and drive me home and take care of me for the next two days.  She just left to go home.  She was awesome, I have to think of something really nice to do for her as a Thank You.
So I’m doing well, still a little sore but the last time I took any pain meds was around 6pm last night.  That’s good, hopefully I can get back to work tomorrow, but we’ll see.  If I need to work from home I can.

I’ve been meaning to catch you up on my office visit from last Wednesday. Basically the doctor, his nurse and the office manager were not only surprised but also shocked and horrified to hear that I waited a year for this procedure.  As it turns out, I think the surgery coordinator had something to do with it…  in fact I wonder if she had some kind of personal agenda involved.  I can’t count the number of phone calls I made to her (because she was the gateway between me and the surgery schedule) that went unreturned.  I even tried contacting the office manager at one point, to figure out what else I could do, and it was right after that when the coordinator finally called me and would schedule a date.

They waved all of my co-pays for the surgery, including the hospital co-pay.

The staff at the hospital was really nice, and efficient - which was comforting.

Other than that, the surgery itself went well.  I had a bit of trouble breathing as I woke up from the surgery, but with some help from the staff and some pain medications I was able to get it under control.

For now I have one last bubble of air trapped in my torso, that likes to shoot pains up my side and into my shoulder when I try to lay down.  But other than that it’s just an overall discomfort and nothing major.  I have an errand to run today, so we’ll see how driving goes - since I’m not on any more medication I should be ok to drive.  After than I plan to knit more of a new pattern I am working on.  Back to work tomorrow, ugh.
