Too cynical?

“$475. incl utils. Seeking female to share 4Br home w/single Dad & daughter.”

I’m sure it’s just a harmless ad, but I couldn’t help reading in all kinds of implications here.

Unbelievable

So far, 2006 has presented some pretty crazy challenges for me and my family. It’s not all that unexpected, to me, because I was leery about the year from the start.

Despite all of that, I realized today that this sucky year is more than half over.

As much as I have lamented the year so far, it’s still a little scary to think it is already halfway gone. I don’t see the time slowing down much, either.

Kiddo and I are scheduled to move somewhere around the end of this month. “Somewhere” is relative in that sentence, because quite literally we are expected to move SOMEWHERE and it is mostly the “WHERE” that needs to be figured out. Details! La La La - can’t hear you!

In August, I would like to take a week’s vacation and just hang out around town doing stuff with Kiddo before he goes back to school at the end of that month.

September is his birthday, and at that point kiss the year goodbye because the days get shorter and HERE COME THE HOLIDAYS!! Wheeee! On the upside - all the knitting I’ve been doing will really come in handy once the weather starts cooling off.

I might as well say it now, “Buh-bye 2006! Not to be mean, but I don’t think we will really miss you much when you’re gone.”

Additional message to current year: What’s up with you? You know, if you could tone down the suckage factor from here on out, that would be super swell. THANKS!
